Located just 5 km / 3 miles to the south-west of central Salzburg and close to both Freilassing and Teinsendorf, the airport receives around two million annual passengers. This figure has grown dramatically over the last few years, due to the considerable popularity of 'no-frills' airlines and the recently opened Amadeus Terminal 2.

The budget airline Ryanair is one of the main carriers at Salzburg Airport WA Mozart, while a total of some 130 airlines operate flights to destinations all over Europe. Popular destinations include the German cities of Berlin, Cologne, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt, along with UK locations and many well-known Spanish holiday resorts.

Options for transport from Salzburg Airport to the city and away are good, with public buses, private shuttles, taxis and limousines all available. Public bus number 77 runs to the main train station throughout the day, while private shuttles run to various ski resorts close to Salzburg.

Business and conference facilities can be found at Terminal 2 (the Amadeus Terminal) or alternatively business passengers can use the facilities at the Airporthotel, which is located onsite at the airport and comes with well-appointed rooms and free shuttle bus access.

To travel to and from Salzburg Airport, various car rental companies are based on the group level of the multi-storey parking garage. Taxis, nearby trains, shuttles and buses are also popular, connecting destinations such as the regions of Bavaria and Tyrol, along with various Austrian ski resorts. Consider purchasing the Salzburg Card, which allows unlimited travel on the city's public transport (including the Fortress Funicular boats), substantial tour discounts and also free admission for many top attractions.
